2013 Juno Nominees!

When you only get ONE category in an awards show, and have a country stuffed full of talented artists, I don’t envy the job of the Juno team whittling down the list.  I must say though, they did do a pretty spectacular job as all of these artists have put forward great projects this year.   We’ve got a singer-songwriter, a couple rock acts of different styles and some pop soul – put them together and you’d definitely get one hot concert!

And the nominees are:

CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN/GOSPEL ALBUM OF THE YEAR

Colin Bernard * Independent
Hold On

Manafest * Manafest * Fontana North
Fighter

Newworldson * Platinum Pop * David C. Cook
Rebel Transmission

The City Harmonic * Integrity * Provident
I Have A Dream (It Feels Like Home)
Thousand Foot Krutch * TFK * Tone Tree
The End Is Where We Begin
* * * * * *
Something interesting:
Newworldson, The City Harmonic and Thousand Foot Krutch are all represented the fuel music management company.
Everyone on the list calls Ontario “home” in one way or another.
Colin currently lives in Ottawa, from NB.
Manafest now lives in Cali but is from the Pickering area.
TCH lives in Hamilton.
TFK lives in Windsor and Grimsby (well Trevor calls Nashville home now but we still love him)

The album Just As I Am was released on Brand-T Records in October 2012 to critical acclaim, and features a collection of well-known Gospel songs personally selected by Paul.

“This album and tour has special meaning for me; it’s a journey back to my musical roots and the songs that have always inspired me,” says Brandt. “The feedback we’ve received from the album has been phenomenal, and I look forward to performing these songs in some great venues this spring.”

Just As I Am was recently named one of the top Country Albums of 2012 from iTunes Canada, in the company of Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and the Zac Brown Band.

Recorded in the former sanctuary at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, Just As I Am was produced by Brandt, Gaither Homecoming artist Gordon Mote, who will be joining Paul on the tour, and Grammy Award-winning engineer Ben Fowler. Francesca Battistelli – Strangely Dim

With just over a month before the 2011 Dove Awards “Artist of the Year” kicks of her spring leg of the “Hundred More Years” tour in Toronto, Francesca Battistelli’s latest single “Strangely Dim” graces radio across the country (and now laptops as it’s finally available on iTunes).

When I first saw the title, I was wondering if Francesca had done a fresh take on the classic hymn, “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”… however she stayed true to her lyrical style with the help of writer Seth Mosely talking about real life stuff.

But when I fix my eyes on all that You are
Then every doubt I feel
Deep in my heart
Grows strangely dim
All my worries fade

Strangely Dim - Francesca

“I love this song because it reminds me daily that God is the source of my peace, and even when things are chaotic all around me, He is in control,” commented Battistelli. “Yielding our lives and our desire for control to Him brings a peace that makes our doubts and fear fade away.”  You can stream the track at www.francescamusic.com.

“Strangely Dim” will be featured on The Hundred More Years Deluxe Edition which is officially available on March 12,  but we’re hoping to hear it LIVE and see some copies a little early at the Canadian Hundred More Years tour dates featuring, Francesca Battistelli, The Afters, Jodi King (Love and the Outcome) and Ryan McAllister.  For more details and to purchase tickets:
